Melissa Reid is a very successful visually impaired Triathlete and surfer.
It was at the age of seven when Mellisa had her first surfing lesson while on holiday in Cornwall with her Dad Allan. After moving down to Cornwall permanently Mellisa took any opportunity she could to get to the beach and surf.
In 2017  a back injury took Melissa  out of triathlon training for a while giving her more time to spend   at the beach surfing.
Melissa’s sporting achievements not only include a Bronze Triathlon medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympics but in 2018 she was the first visually impaired woman to win the ISA Adaptive World Surfing Championships held in San Diego.
Listen to my interview with Melissa recorded on the beach in Falmouth to find out more about surfing as a visually impaired person.
