UN Children’s Agency – UNICEF says it has received eighteen million US dollars from the African Development Bank, to improve equitable access to quality education for children in South Sudan.
The funds will be used to train teachers and rehabilitation and expansion of thirty-five primary schools and ten county education centres in four states, where learning has been greatly affected by the conflict.
UNICEF’s Acting Representative Mads Oyen says the partners are ready to support the government in reopening of schools, with safety and monitoring of education programs as key in the first phase, as the schools have been closed for a long time. He spoke to Radio Miraya's Agole Alex.
