On the evening of July 16th, 1997, sisters Marijoy and Jacqueline Chiong were kidnapped from a shopping center in Cebu, The Philippines. Two days later, Marijoy’s body was found in a ravine close-by. Seven men were convicted of the crime, with little evidence against them. This is arguably the most controversial case in the Philippines to date. In the case that divided the nation, one question remains: was justice served?
