Join Signe for a conversation with Dr. Riley Nickols on cultivating mental and physical health in athletes, body image in sport culture, “the need to be perfect” in athletes and how to navigate that in a more balanced way. 

Dr. Nickols is the spokesperson in the media for input on relevant mental health topics for athletes such as eating disorders, anxiety, and performance improvement. He is a counseling and sport psychologist who specializes in treating athletes with eating disorders and the Director of the Victory Program, the nation’s only residential eating disorder treatment facility for athletes, at McCallum Place in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Nickols has a MS in Sport Psychology, a MS in Counseling Psychology and a PhD in Counseling Psychology. He speaks regularly to athletes, coaches, and sports medicine personnel about disordered eating and unbalanced exercise in sport. He maintains a private practice in St. Louis where he primarily works with athletes addressing both clinical and performance concerns. In addition to competing in endurance sports for over 15 years, Dr. Nickols is a running coach and a USA Triathlon coach.
