Colin Whelan planned his wife’s murder before they were even married. He doubled their life insurance and searched the internet using phrases like death by strangulation and ‘asphyxiation’. The calculating groom even studied the court transcript of an American case, that of serial killer Henry Louis Wallace, using his method as inspiration. Then his wife died after falling down the stairs. Before Whelan could be brought to justice, he disappeared in an apparent suicide, but investigators felt he faked his own death...
