Rescue forces to evacuate Governor Louis Lobong Lojore Eastern Equatoria State

Rescue forces from Torit and Juba have arrived in Camp 15 located in Eastern Equatoria State to restore calm and evacuate Governor Louis Lobong Lojore who survived a deadly ambush on Monday evening. Heavily armed youth in the area attacked the governor’s convoy, killing one solider and a woman. Three other soldiers were injured. The governor was in Camp 15 to call for calm amid tensions in the area following an attack on the villagers on Sunday that left more than 16 people dead and over four others injured. His bodyguards fought back the attackers and retreated to the military barrack in Camp 15 for safety. The Governor’s Press Secretary who was in the convoy, Aliandro Lotok, says Governor Lobong is safe and working with the reinforcement soldiers to restore order.
