The Minister for Cabinet Affairs, Martin Elia Lomuro has threatened to take the Asset Recovery Agency of Kenya, to court over a decision to freeze his bank accounts, on charges of fraud and money laundering.

The High Court in Kenya granted the Asset Recovery Agency of Kenya an injunction to freeze Lomuro’s bank accounts over the transfer of more than four hundred and sixty thousand US dollars ($460,000) between January 4, 2018 and January 2, 2020, over what it terms as ‘suspicious transactions pointing to money laundering.’

Lomuro denies involvement in money laundering and says the money is from his personal properties and businesses in South Sudan.

In a one-on-one interview with Radio Miraya’s Sani Martin, Lomuro challenged the Asset Recovery Agency and the newspaper that published the story to produce evidence.

The minister said he will instruct his lawyers to take appropriate legal action in the East African Court of Justice.
