Season 1, Episode 26,   Jun 22, 2021, 04:50 PM

In this episode I talk to Katie McCann a family lawyer and barrister because as we’ve been navigating through this pandemic, it’s been affecting many of our core relationships.

And the  Charity Citizen’s Advice has been reporting spikes in searches for online advice on ending a relationship plus many law firms have been reporting over a 100% increase in enquiries over the last 6-10 months.  There's also been a similar pattern around the world – particularly in countries where there’s been some of the strictest lockdowns such as China.

Katie is founder of family law firm Lowry Legal. She specialises in helping separating couples on their journey from separation to the next phase of their lives.  She believes in treating her clients as whole people and understands that their divorce is only one phase in their lives. Helping clients emerge on the other side as stronger people is Katie’s mission.  And she is turning the perception of the legal profession on its head because she believes that the legal profession can be stuffy and lawyers unapproachable.

This is certainly not the case with Katie.

So on this episode of mojo matters we explore family matters particularly in light of the impact that the pandemic has been having and get some practical guidance from Katie on what to do if you’re in a challenging and emotional family situation right now.

And also Katie is massive inspiration in other ways too because Katie has a condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which affects her muscles, joints and ligaments.

She promised herself long ago that she would not let this beat her and sought to build up her strength as much as she could with resistance training!  This turned into a love of the body building sport, and she is currently on course to competing in her first bikini show in 2022.

We talk about the strategies Katie has for living with this condition.
