Peter Eyre

Episode 29,   Aug 02, 2021, 11:30 PM

Hello and welcome to Episode 29 of That Yoga Woman’s Podcast. A podcast where yogis, yoga teachers and studio owners share stories of their lives on and off the mat.

I’m Jules Buchanan, a yoga teacher and your host.

This week I’m talking to Peter Eyre.

Peter is another of my guests based in the north east - in fact I need to share that I actually work for him at the new Hotpod he’s set up with his partner Allie, up here in the lovely town of Morpeth.

Having made the decision to take on a Hotpod franchise just before the start of the pandemic, their timing hasn’t made this an easy process so I’ll find out how he’s managed to secure a space and set up a new yoga studio during multiple lockdowns. I’ll also be asking him what working as a franchisee has been like and why he and his partner decided to go down that route, rather than establish their own studio and brand.

Prior to teaching yoga, Peter was a headteacher and he made the decision to leave his educational career to start his yoga business so I’ll find out how easy that decision was for him and his partner (Allie is still a headteacher) as well as what the pros and cons are of managing a school. I’ll also be asking him how his career progressed to that point and whether he’d always wanted to be a teacher from the start of his working life.

Outside of work and yoga Peter was born in Zambia (of all places) and was really into sports in a competitive way when he was younger - we’re talking county level for rugby, swimming and even pole vault! Nowadays, he has a passion for surfing and loves being part of the surf community in the area. Yes, there’s apparently more people than just Peter that loves going out in the freezing cold of the water off the north east coast to enjoy the waves! I’ll be asking him more about that, as well as how yoga combines with surfing. I’m also interested to know what first led him to yoga sessions.

On top of this he’s also into interiors (aren’t we all to a certain extent?) but Peter and Allie are another level -  their current house (which is on the beach in Cambois) will be featured in this month’s Good Homes magazine…amazing!

So, I think you’ll agree there’s lots of ground to cover….I really hope you enjoy listening to our conversation…

Listeners, you can contact Peter through Instagram; @hotpodyogamorpeth or by emailing him at morpeth@hotpodyoga.com  If you’ve got any questions for him I’m sure he’d be happy to answer them.

His Savasana Sounds are Apricots by Bicep as well as the classic Inner City Life by Goldie.
