Kiir suspends Doha trip after advance team tests positive for COVID-19

President Salva Kiir’s visit to Qatar has been postponed after members of his advanced team tested positive for Covid-19 on arrival in the capital, Doha on Monday. 

  

The advance delegation comprising of South Sudan ministers and top officials in the Office of the president is now in quarantine in Qatar.

This would have been Kiir’s first visit to Qatar since South Sudan’s independence in 2011.
 

Presidential Spokesperson Ateny Wek Ateny says that the public will be notified of a new date for the visit.
