Airline operators urge authorities to lift ban on Antonov planes

Episode 1789,   Nov 18, 2021, 02:00 PM

The South Sudan airline operators’ union is appealing to national authorities to lift a ban on the operation of Antonov aircraft.

The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority suspended the operation of Antonov air carriers due to safety concerns and a recent plane crash that killed 5 people early this month.

The union says the grounding of the planes has greatly affected their businesses and made it unable for them to deliver humanitarian assistance and food items contracted to them by humanitarian organizations.

The spokesperson of the union, Engineer Kat Monjok, is urging the authorities to reconsider the suspension.

Monjok spoke to Radio Miraya in this 6" interview.
