UK Sight Loss Charity Working To Make Chip N Pin Machines Accessible

Season 1, Episode 1040,   Dec 02, 2021, 10:00 AM

More and more now, we're seeing chip n pin machines with touch screens replacing the more common devices with physical buttons.
However, with many of us using digital methods for payments for goods and services, could they exclude blind and partially sighted people from purchases and breach the Equalities Act?
RNIB Connect Radio's Allan Russell spoke to Dave Williams, from RNIB, to find out how the charity is working with device manufacturers, and service providers, to make the machines accessible.
We also hear from RNIB's Samantha Fothergill, who gives us advice on what to do if we come across a device that's not accessible.
If you come across a Chip n Pin machine that's not accessible, contact RNIB on 0303 123 999, telling them where the machine was and what make of device, if you can find out, it was and they'll take it further.
