The situation in Leer County, Unity state is reported to be ‘cautiously calm’, days after intercommunal fighting that led to the killing of at least 23 people in Padeah village. The fighting has reportedly subsided and communities that fled are said to be slowly returning to their homes. The fighting erupted last Wednesday, between armed youth and men from Mayendit and Leer counties and lasted several days. One aid worker was killed and health and nutrition facilities in Gandor, Guat, Luol and Padeah were reportedly looted. The head of the office of the International Committee for the Red Cross in Leer, Nathanie Rees says although the violence has subsided, the impact of the damage will continue to be felt by the local community. He spoke with Miraya's Lucy Kiden. #TakeAListen
