The United Nations Secretary General António Guterres says he is extremely concerned that critical benchmarks of the revitalized peace agreement remain outstanding in South Sudan.

Mr Guterres said this in his new periodic report on South Sudan which covers political and security developments, the humanitarian and human rights situation and progress towards the implementation of the Missions’ mandate.

Speaking to Radio Miraya, UNMISS’ Spokesperson, Linda Tom said despite progress made in the formation of the Army Command structure of the Unified Forces, the peace agreement is at risk of being stuck in a cycle of extensions.
