Episode 10,   Oct 13, 2022, 09:00 AM

Allegations of torturing a child and then covering up the injuries have been made against the child's father and three other relatives.

A report of child abuse led deputies from the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office to a home on Waspnest Road in Wellford, South Carolina on September 2, according to a press release. Reports indicate that at the scene, authorities learned that a child victim had been hidden from a Department of Social Services representative who had previously visited the home on multiple occasions in the course of her investigation.

There were four adults and four children in the house, all of different ages, and the Sheriff's Office said the oldest child "had a noticeable limp and temporary tattoos covering multiple visible bruises on both legs."

The Sheriff's Office reports that the child's biological father, Ian Tatro, 25, the child's stepmother, Tenika Draper, 24, the child's stepgrandmother, Trina Rae Draper, 47, and the child's stepuncle, Ryan Dezotelle, 28 were all present at the residence.

Officials reportedly interviewed all four adults individually and discovered that the family had recently relocated from Vermont to South Carolina.

The Sheriff's Office claims the stepmother admitted to them that she had painted over the victim's legs with makeup when the Department of Social Services began making visits to their home.

The Sheriff's Office stated that initial investigations led to the arrest of the father and stepmother on charges of unlawful neglect of a child.

They reportedly took the four kids in the house into protective custody right away. The Sheriff's Office reported that the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of severe bruising and blood loss.

A forensic physician reportedly concluded that the child "clearly met the criteria for a medical diagnosis of child torture" after conducting an examination. After being interviewed, the victim allegedly stated that all four family members had participated in the abuse.

The Sheriff's Office reported that during their search of the Waspnest Road residence, they discovered additional evidence corroboration of the victim's disclosure.

The Sheriff's Office stated that the father was charged with 13 counts of unlawful neglect of a child and 2 counts of obstruction. The stepgrandmother was charged with five counts of cruelty to children, three counts of obstruction, and one count of assault and battery, while the stepmother was charged with 11 counts of unlawful neglect of a child and three counts of obstruction. Last but not least, the Sheriff's Office reported that the victim's step-uncle had been charged with two counts of obstruction, three counts of assault and battery, and three counts of cruelty to children.
