The Mythical Lost Kingdom of Prester John
Season 2, Episode 25, Oct 30, 2022, 11:37 PM
Hello ITP Friends! We have missed you all! Since it has been a while we have a special archival release for you all from the temporarily paused The Mystorian's Podcast. A historical mystery with many twists and turns featuring Archaeologist Nikolaus Cox!
Beginning in the Twelfth Century stories began to circulate in medieval Europe of a mysterious man called Prester John. Despite his unassuming name, John was rumoured to be the saviour of Christendom, a mysterious and all-powerful ruler who was maybe the only thing standing between the Saracens and the Holy Land. He was a man the crusader kings counted as an ally without having ever met. He was a man whose existence saw popes and emperors deploy explorers and emissaries into the wilds of Central Asia in search of. But who Prester John really was is even stranger than the stories. The truth behind the legend is a bizarre tale that takes us from the walls of Jerusalem into the courts of the Mongol Kahns, and finally to the ancient Christain temples of the Kingdom of Abyssinia!
Prepare for the maiden voyage of The Mystorians Podcast! Weird history and high strangeness awaits!
