STEPHEN GALLAGHER

Season 1, Episode 6,   Dec 13, 2022, 05:00 AM

“I’ve always maintained that Doctor Who had its origins and draws its strength and superpower from the fact that it is the best kids’ show in the world – and the rest of us are all guests at a children’s party.”
Wise words from this week’s guest in Cutaway Bunker – Stephen Gallagher. An “English screenwriter” according to his Wikipedia page, he’s been a professional writer since the early 1980s. Born in Salford, North West England, Stephen’s many TV credits include Eleventh Hour, Crusoe, Lucky Man and, based on his novel, 1991 cult classic Chimera. But you’re listening to a Doctor Who podcast so it’s likely you best know Steve for Warriors’ Gate and Terminus. Today, amongst many other projects, we at Cutaway are lucky enough to have Steve writing for us on Faustine: Princess of Tharil.

Steve’s five choices to take with him into The Bunker are:

1. Doctor Who in an Exciting Adventure with the Daleks (book adaptation by David   Whittaker, first published in 1964)
2. The Dalek World Annual (book, published 1965)
3. Dalek (Robert Shearman, Doctor Who, TV story, first broadcast 2005)
4. The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances (Stephen Moffat, Doctor Who, TV story, first broadcast 2005)
5. The Eleventh Hour (Stephen Moffat, Doctor Who, TV story, first broadcast 2010)
