Bryan Kohberger Gets Second Attorney in Death Penalty Case #KohbergerCase #DeathPenalty

Mar 13, 2023, 08:56 PM

Bryan Kohberger, the man charged in the slayings of four University of Idaho students, has been granted a second death penalty-qualified attorney to join his defense team. The Latah County Magistrate Judge approved the motion filed by Kohberger's attorney, Anne Taylor, who is the chief of the Kootenai County Public Defender's Office. The second death-qualified attorney is expected to protect against appellate issues and meet the Idaho administrative code that requires at least two death-qualified defense attorneys in death penalty cases. Prosecutors are expected to seek the death penalty, with experts pointing to multiple aggravating factors, including the four victims and the heinous nature of the stabbings. Availability and experience will be the determining factors in choosing Kohberger's second lawyer.
