People in the northeast, including Connecticut, are getting fake text messages claiming they owe money for tolls via E-ZPass. The fraudulent texts appear to be from MassDOT but the department has confirmed the messages are part of a "smishing" scam using text-based messaging. Crime prevention expert, Jim Perez, explains what a smishing scam is and how to avoid being duped by them.
