Melissa in the Morning: Volunteer Firefighter Crisis

Meriden is shutting down its volunteer fire department in December. The city announced a shortage of workers and money to fund the program led to the decision to shut down the department after more than 100 years of service. Is this the beginning of a horrible trend: mass closures of volunteer departments in the state? If so, what is the state doing about this problem? We asked Comptroller Sean Scanlon.
