My Mother’s Mirror: Grieving the Man Who Reflected Her Soul

What happens when a person becomes a living, breathing link to a parent you have already lost?Today, we explore the profound and unique grief of losing my uncle, my mother's twin who was more than a beloved uncle. He was like a surrogate mother in a male form, my champion, and the person in whom I could still see my mother's spirit. For 22 years after her passing  he was a mirror, reflecting my mother’s soul back to me. In my eyes he was the keeper of my mother’s essence and his death felt like losing my mother all over again. 

 In this episode, we explore the unique and layered grief of losing a person who embodies another and sit with this complex sorrow. We will , find comfort in a scripture that acknowledges both grief and hope, and offer solidarity to anyone grieving a person who held the memory of another with ways to honor these sacred, reflective bonds.
