He was like a surrogate mother in a male form, my champion, and the person in whom I could still see my mother's spirit. For 22 years after her passing he was a mirror, reflecting my mother’s soul back to me. In my eyes he was the keeper of my mother’s essence and his death felt like losing my mother all over again.
