Inner Work or Inner Gaslighting

In this episode of the Walking Session Podcast, I unpack the difference between genuine inner work and what she calls inner gaslighting; the subtle way we can end up blaming ourselves for everything under the banner of self-awareness, positivity, or “doing the work.”

I gently challenge ideas like “you attract what you think,” sharing how these beliefs can increase anxiety, perfectionism, and self-doubt rather than healing, especially for people shaped by trauma or a strong need for control.

Through honest reflection and psychological insight, I invite you to choose a more compassionate middle ground: taking healthy responsibility without self-blame, allowing negative thoughts to exist without fear, and recognising that sometimes things simply happen. The episode is a reminder that acceptance, self-trust, and peace matter more than constant self-fixing; and that being human is not something you need to outgrow!
