Actress Kandyse McClure is winning over audiences on Virgin River—Netflix’s longest-running and most-streamed original, already renewed for Season 8. The South African-born beauty, now based in British Columbia, sat down virtually with LifeMinute’s editor-in-chief, Joann Butler, to talk about stepping into the role of Kaia in Season 5—a character she calls a “gift” after years of darker, more emotionally heavy parts. 

Known for cult hits like Battlestar Galactica, Hemlock Grove with Famke Janssen and Dougray Scott, and Limetown alongside Jessica Biel and Stanley Tucci, McClure has built a career across genres. She’s appeared with Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, and Alicia Vikander in Seventh Son, and opposite Nick Jonas in Careful What You Wish For. 

She credits those experiences with shaping her craft, recalling the quiet collaboration of Bridges and the transformative on-camera presence of Moore. Now, with Virgin River, she’s embracing lighter, more layered storytelling—while fans continue to connect with Kaia’s independence and emotional depth.
