But the state prosecutor who handled her criminal case told the court there wasn't enough evidence for a jury tampering charge — a position the Supreme Court effectively rejected four months later.

Now the Attorney General is considering the death penalty for the retrial. Federal depositions could run on a parallel track. And the only entity actively using legal tools to find out how far the corruption actually went is Alex Murdaugh's defense team.
