Bryan Kohberger Called His Own Lawyers WHAT?!

Bryan Kohberger pleaded guilty to the Idaho student murders, avoided a death sentence because of it, and is now telling a judge the attorneys who negotiated that deal failed him.
Tony Brueski is joined live by psychotherapist Shavaun Scott, more than thirty years across private practice, crisis teams, and forensic work, to unpack the handwritten petition Kohberger filed from his cell on July 27, 2026. He names his own defense team as ineffective. He claims he was pushed into a false confession and misled about what a life sentence would actually look like day to day.
The two of them dig into the language he chose — writing that his innocence is his truth rather than simply claiming innocence — and what a year of isolation with no trial and no appeals to occupy his mind might do to a person's account of his own case. They cover his silence when the judge gave him the floor at sentencing, the moment he walked past his mother without turning his head, and the fact that a reporter heard about this petition before his own family did.
This is a live conversation, which means real reactions, audience questions, and a psychotherapist working through what she's hearing in real time rather than a scripted breakdown.
Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin's families are watching this play out with no say in any of it. Join the conversation as it happens.
