Debunking Lindsay Clancy Theories Does THIS Instead

The Lindsay Clancy trial has one detail almost nobody talks about: both the prosecution and Lindsay's own defense attorney agree on what happened. She killed her three children. That's not contested by anyone in the courtroom. Online, it's contested by nearly everyone. Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott, author of Nightbird, sits down with Tony Brueski for a two-part conversation on the psychology of an audience that has rejected a fact pattern both sides accept. She explains why correcting a conspiracy theory in real time — walking through the Apple Watch data, the body temperature readings, the actual testimony — tends to make believers dig in harder instead of reconsidering. It's not a bug in how people think. It's exactly how the mechanism is supposed to work. Scott then turns to the posters themselves, describing real, physical symptoms in people who've never met the Clancy family: shaking hands, lost sleep, a level of fury usually reserved for something personal. She explains what the case is actually standing in for, and what it costs the people on the other end of it. Patrick Clancy, who testified for the prosecution and buried three children, is now getting death threats over a theory neither legal team has ever put forward. Scott ends by describing what it would take — and whether it's even possible — to bring someone back from a conclusion they've already built their identity around.
