Timothy Hudson’s Mom Asked a Judge for WHAT?!

Timothy Hudson’s mother is back in court over money as the Anna Kepner cruise ship murder case moves toward a November federal trial. Shauntel Hudson says her ex-husband, Thomas Hudson, owes child support and should be paying more. 

Her petition says Thomas agreed to $2,129 a month when support covered three children. The figure later fell to $1,092 as the number of eligible children changed. Shauntel alleges Thomas missed several months of payments and says his income is higher than the amount used for the existing order. Thomas disputes both points, and no ruling has been entered on Shauntel’s request. 

The timing matters because Timothy is also at the center of a separate federal fight over trial preparation. His lawyers told U.S. District Judge Beth Bloom that they have limited access to certain family members whose information could matter to his juvenile history and sentencing record. They are preparing for a Miller hearing, which requires a judge to consider a juvenile defendant’s background before a sentence of life without parole can be imposed. 

The defense asked to move the September trial date so it could complete that work and advise Timothy about his options. Prosecutors did not oppose the request. Bloom granted it, setting trial for November 2, 2026 and leaving October 23 as the plea-agreement deadline. 

Timothy has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and another serious federal charge in Anna Kepner’s death aboard the Carnival Horizon. He has been in federal custody since June 15. His federal defense says it needs family history while the family court shows his parents contesting money, custody history, and their relationships with the children. Both court records will remain active as the federal trial date approaches.
