With this year’s Summer Film Fest behind them, the gang hop on the bus and go on tour with “Wake Me Up When September Ends”, a whole month of band-related films. First up: the Tom Hanks cult classic, That Thing You Do!
Welcome back, folks. You’re listening to Apocalypse Video Radio, and boy, do I have a banger for you! Now that the gang has wrapped up in the studio recording their hit Summer Film Series, Where Were You in ‘82?, they’re hitting the road and going on tour with a trio of band-related movie shows! We’re talkin’ The One-ders, Spinal Tap, and even the four lads from Liverpool…The Beatles!!!
So sit back, turn on the Hi-Fi, and lose yourself in the music as Apocalypse Video turns it up to eleven with its newest theme month: Wake Me Up When September Ends!
I’m your host, Dave, and joining me as we jump on the tour bus to play the wasteland county fairs are fellow cinephiles and band mates, Mike, Ryan, and Jackie.
Topics of discussion in this episode include the magic trick of playing That Thing You Do! eleven times throughout the film and somehow having it not get on your nerves; Ryan explains the differences between the Theatrical and Extended Cuts and why this film should be taught in Film Editing courses; and finally, we play “Who Are You?” as we decide who each of us would be in the film (Spoiler: yours truly doesn’t end up going on the tour with the band).
