Wendi Adelson Said Donna Wanted the Boys Dressed HOW?!

Donna Adelson’s role in the Dan Markel case reaches far beyond the murder charge that sent her to prison. At her 2025 trial, jurors heard Wendi Adelson describe what happened after a judge rejected her request to move the children from Tallahassee to South Florida. Wendi testified that Donna proposed converting the boys to Christianity, dressing them in Hitler Youth uniforms, and offering Markel $1 million to approve the relocation. 

The testimony exposed the level of pressure inside the Adelson family before Markel’s death. Wendi told jurors that Donna “micromanaged my life.” Robert Adelson, Donna’s estranged oldest son, described his mother as controlling and said she “ran the show.” He also testified that Charlie needed more attention from Donna than the other children. 

Charlie’s own records later showed how constant that connection remained. In the seven days between his November 6, 2023 conviction and Donna’s November 13 arrest, jail records showed 86 calls to the phone number associated with Donna. The calls totaled 2,118 minutes, more than 35 hours. 

At Donna’s trial, financial investigator Mary Hull testified that Donna handled hotels, flights, and bills for Charlie. Katherine Magbanua testified that Charlie sometimes left the room to call Donna during conversations about the murder arrangement. Magbanua also said Charlie told her Donna had physically washed cash that later reached her. Those statements remain Magbanua’s testimony, and Donna’s defense challenged the prosecution’s interpretation of the financial evidence. 

Donna was convicted of first-degree murder, conspiracy, and solicitation for orchestrating Markel’s murder-for-hire killing. Her direct appeal remains pending. On September 8, 2026, the First District Court of Appeal accepted her amended initial brief and ordered the state to answer within 30 days.
