Caleb Flynn Trial Day 4: Farkus & Deamron Saw WHAT at Door?!

Det. Zachary Farkus and FBI Special Agent Sarah Deamron put the alleged break-in door under a microscope in the Caleb Flynn trial. Farkus testified that he saw no pry marks, no damage suggesting the door had been kicked in, and only the missing interior handle. 

Caleb Flynn is charged in the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn. He has pleaded not guilty, and the defense says Ashley was killed during a home invasion while investigators rushed to blame him. Prosecutors allege the scene was staged to look like a burglary. 

Farkus, a Dayton police detective serving with an FBI task force, said he searched roughly 70 to 80 percent of the attic with metal detectors but could not access the rest. He also described following tips, searching nearby vacant homes, and locating Alleigha Botner after one tip. He testified that camera evidence showed Botner's vehicle leave the house where she was staying on February 15, return around 12:30 a.m. on February 16, and leave again around 10 a.m. 

Deamron testified that Botner admitted having a relationship with Caleb Flynn and became more forthcoming in a later interview. Deamron also identified a claw hammer collected from Flynn's tool bench. She said FBI lab results found no paint on the tools, though the item may have been capable of making markings on the door. On cross, she agreed the report did not identify that hammer as the tool used on the door, and she said Botner never gave the FBI a burner phone.
