Caleb Flynn Court Coverage Day 4: Door Evidence Said WHAT About Entry?!

Det. Zachary Farkus and FBI Special Agent Sarah Deamron combined two major threads of the Caleb Flynn case: the disputed break-in door and investigators' interviews with Alleigha Botner. Their testimony gave jurors new detail about what officers did, what they did not find, and where the limits of the searches remained. 

Flynn is on trial for the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn, and has pleaded not guilty. His attorneys say Ashley was killed in a home invasion. Prosecutors allege Caleb staged the scene to look like a burglary. 

Farkus testified that the door itself showed no pry marks or damage he believed demonstrated forced entry from outside, while the inside handle was missing. He said he searched most of the attic with metal detectors but could not reach every section, and he described repeated searches outdoors and in nearby vacant properties. He also testified about tracing a tip to Botner and reviewing camera evidence showing the timing of her vehicle's movements around the night Ashley was killed. 

Deamron said Botner admitted an affair with Flynn and was more forthcoming during a later interview. She also addressed a claw hammer collected from Flynn's tool bench. According to Deamron, FBI testing found no paint on the tools, and the report left open the possibility that the item could have caused markings on the door. Under defense questioning, however, she said the report did not identify that hammer as the tool used, and Botner had not turned over a burner phone to the FBI.
