Caleb Flynn Court Coverage Day 5: Botner Heard WHAT After Ashley Died?!

Alleigha Botner told jurors that February 15 brought hundreds of messages between her and Caleb Flynn about a possible future together. They discussed divorce, work and where they might live. Around 12:45 a.m., she testified, Caleb sent a message calling February 16 "a day I'll never forget."

Botner said she understood the message to mean Caleb planned to leave his wife, Ashley Flynn. After she learned Ashley had been killed, Botner testified that she messaged Caleb asking what was happening and whether the news was real.

Then came her account of their last in-person encounter before this trial. Botner testified that she saw Caleb on February 16 and that he told her, "It didn't happen the way we thought it would, did it?" She also said she resigned from Christian Life Center because she knew the affair would become public.

Caleb has pleaded not guilty in Ashley's murder. Prosecutors allege he killed her and staged a burglary; the defense maintains an intruder was responsible. The prosecution can argue timing and context. The defense can challenge meaning and interpretation. The jury has Botner's account of both.
