"I've never joked about it." Caleb Flynn wrote that to his mistress on June 12, 2025, in reply to a message she'd sent about needing "a solution" to his wife. What he'd asked her for a few messages earlier is the reason this episode exists, and it's why the Caleb Flynn trial in Tipp City, Ohio has become the case everyone is arguing about.

Three clips from Alleigha Botner's second day of testimony, each played in full. June 12. July 4, when "please take her out" and "I'd have a smile on my face the whole time" arrive in the same thread as "not even for a second" about his in-laws. August 22, the 4 a.m. message about ways to kill her and not go to jail, and the line right after it about sitting across the street from her job in his truck, weeping.

Caleb Flynn is accused of shooting Ashley Flynn twice in the head while she slept and then calling 911 to report an intruder. He has pleaded not guilty. His lawyers say the state has an affair and a motive, not a killer. His messages, read by the woman he sent them to, are the state's answer.

The panel's question is simple and the answer isn't: at what point does a man who keeps saying it become a man who's going to do it?
