Caleb Flynn Rebuttal: Paul Watkins Says the Defense Missed WHAT?

The final prosecution response in the Caleb Flynn trial focused on something simple: connect the evidence, connect the timeline, and compare both with what prosecutors characterize as Caleb's lies. Miami County Prosecuting Attorney Paul Watkins used rebuttal to answer the defense's argument that the State had not proved Caleb killed his wife, Ashley Flynn.

Caleb, 40, has pleaded not guilty to 11 charges, including aggravated murder, in Ashley's February 16, 2026 death at their Tipp City home. Prosecutors allege he killed Ashley and staged the scene to resemble a home-invasion burglary. The defense maintains that an intruder killed Ashley and that investigators rushed to judgment.

Rebuttal gave Watkins the prosecution's final opportunity to respond after defense attorney L. Patrick Mulligan argued that the case was circumstantial and that prosecutors had proved an affair, not murder.

Watkins answered by returning to the connections the State says matter. He linked pieces of evidence to the prosecution's timeline and focused on statements the State argues were lies told by Caleb. The prosecution's position was that those pieces should not be evaluated as unrelated coincidences.
