Why a Civil Lawsuit Could Reach Caleb Flynn's Mistress

A jury convicted Caleb Flynn of aggravated murder in under three hours. But the guilty verdict raises a question the criminal case never touched. Alleigha Botner, Flynn's 24-year-old mistress, spent eighteen months reading texts where he described hating Ashley and fantasized about her death. She admitted on the stand that she herself once texted about wanting Ashley dead. She lied to the FBI. She stayed in the affair right up until Ashley was shot. Criminal charges against Botner are unlikely, according to legal experts. But civil court operates on a different standard and a different set of tools. Could a wrongful death claim force the mistress into a deposition chair and expose what she knew, what she deleted, and what she did with all of it? Flynn has been convicted. All individuals discussed are presumed innocent of any uncharged conduct until proven guilty.
