The digital evidence in the Caleb Flynn case told a story the defendant allegedly tried to erase. ChatGPT was uninstalled from Flynn’s phone on February 15. GroupMe and Instagram were deleted after 1 a.m. on February 16. Prosecutors argued Flynn was wiping the trail he’d left during an 18-month affair with a 24-year-old church intern: 107,000 messages, AI-generated love songs, and searches about deleting data. Investigators recovered the deletion timestamps, the messages, Apple Watch activity data, and cell phone records that built a minute-by-minute timeline. A jury convicted on all nine counts in roughly two hours. The defense said there was no weapon and no direct evidence. Bob Motta and Robin Dreeke discuss how a phone becomes a prosecution’s best witness and what it means when a defendant thinks deleting is enough.
