CSV Volunteer Voices - Debbie Matthews, Gloucestershire

Debbie won a 23 year battle against drugs, and went from life on the streets to community champion volunteering for CSV. This interview was featured on BBC Gloucestershire in 2008, when CSV arranged for Debbie (then a CSV Action Desk Volunteer) to speak to children in Gloucester about her addiction.
Of her time with CSV Debbie says: "Volunteering for CSV gave me the confidence kick start I needed to re-engage with the wider community after having many years isolated from the community due to my addiction. I was able to volunteer on the action desk after completing some time at The Nelson Trust Treatment Centre. Through Volunteering with CSV I learned that I was a very capable woman and it felt great to give something back to help other people. I live a very exciting full and rewarding life today and would like to thank CSV for being a large contributing factor for which I will always be grateful".
