No 1 in UK Sheet Music Chart on 12 October 1950 was "Goodnight Irene" made famous by "Lead Belly". He lived 1889-1949. You hear him singing shortly before he died. In 1950 - the popular version of the song in UK was the one you hear here: Frank Sinatra & Jo Stafford (duet). I thought you might also like to hear Jo Stafford herself.
