Schools subsidy cut fears

The Republic's Education Department is carrying out an audit of government funding to private schools. Constitutionally barred from distinguishing between religions, the Irish State provides a subsidy to all fee-paying schools. But Protestant schools say any cuts in funding could disproportionately pose a threat to their ability to operate.
