EDU 313: Mobile Devices in the Classroom

Feb 14, 2013, 08:57 PM

The iPad was first released in April of 2010 and in that time it has become a huge tool talked about both in education and in business and in everyday life. Since then mobile devices of all kinds have popped up in classrooms. So the question is, do these technologies have a place in the classroom and if so, how can it influence education? This week we’re going to be exploring that question and taking a look at how some folks are using mobile devices in their classrooms and what those results are.

We’re going to take a look at a couple of videos where you can see how these devices are impacting students and we’re going to take a look at a couple of apps that I think would be very beneficial to use in the classroom. You’re also going to explore some sites that will help you to identify additional apps that can be used in education. They’ll help you to hone in on certain grade levels and certain subjects and help you to find something that would beneficial for you to use as a teacher.

So this week we’re going to have a little fun and we’re going to look at mobile devices, the use of them, and of course most importantly, how can they be used to better teaching and learning in the classroom. I hope you enjoy this week.
