Over the last few days BBC WM has brought you the latest on the huge blaze at a paper recycling centre in Smethwick.
We've heard about the extreme pressure firefighters are under at a time when the service faces a 25% cut to its budget.
Despite that, the first service is taking on 50 new members of staff. And for those 50 jobs they've had almost 2,000 applications.
