Wired on Radio Borders: All the excitement of the 2014 Inspire Awards

The Inspire Awards ceremony was held at the Volunteer Hall, Galashiels on Friday 14th March 2014. Wired were there to capture all the excitement and were thrilled to win an award too.

The Awards were divided into six categories: volunteering, community, sports, environment, music & the arts and an overall 'inspirational' category. The winners were:

Sport (Individual): Izzy Kyle, aged 14, Kelso Sport (Group): Young Scot Youth Legacy Ambassadors Community (Individual): Scott Redmond, aged 16, Hawick Community (Group): Wired on Radio Borders Music and the Arts (Individual): – Rebecca McCue, aged 13, Melrose Music and the Arts (Group): VOMO - Cast and Crew of ‘Talent’ Volunteering (Individual): Darwin Vevers, aged 18, Hawick Volunteering (Group): Galashiels Academy S3 Pathways Group Inspirational Individual: VOMO’s Rachel Callaghan, aged 19, Galashiels

The ceremony also included the presentation of an incredible 790 Saltire certificates to 233 volunteers aged 12 to 25. This amounts to a total of more than 20,000 hours of volunteering in areas such as peer mentoring and sports leadership.
