Alex, aged 9, is a member of the Galway Community Circus. He talks about what he thinks the rights of the child should be, and why he thinks the right to be protected and the right to pick your own friends are so important.

Alex: I’m Alex and I’m 9. You have a right to a home and food and a good life. Like, you have the right to pick your own friends and to be treated fairly by everybody and you have a right not to be hurt or mistreated.

Because, like, if you can’t pick you own friends then you might not like them and then you just, like, it won’t be, it’ll annoy you and you’ll be like... (makes irritated noise).

And the other one you don’t want to be hurt because then you could get injured and it would be bad and yeah.
