But why nursing?

Muriel Clayson tells our interviewer, Jane, why she chose nursing as a career. #nursing #career #nurse #worcester @GMMedicalMuseum @InfirmaryWorc.

"(And what prompted you to go into nursing do you think?) Well when you finished, in 1954 I finished secondary school, Girls’ Grammar- unless you had money in the family - which obviously we didn’t, or you had a particular leaning towards a sports subject or art .... or something like that- no encouragement to apply for university because it would have been beyond your family’s means anyway- so it was nursing or teaching. And my sister had chosen teaching and I decided I’d been following her all this time- I would do something different , so I went into nursing. Laughs- Not exactly a born nurse, laughs."
