#Octaver Day 17: a Song that Makes me Cry

This one may surprise a few of you. :-) Don't get me wrong; I absolutely love this song, for which I blame Stephen King and his epic novel the Stand. :-P But the third verse almost invariably makes me cry... quite copiously. :-) This is Don't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult. Some people believe that it advocates suicide, but I don't think that's what it's saying at all. It's about a man encouraging his lover not to be afraid of death when it comes their way, because it could actually lead them to a better place and a discovery of further happiness. He's not advising her to give up on life; he's just saying that death is not the end. I believe that, too, but the last verse is still incredibly heart-rending! #BlueOysterCult #music #Octaver
