One big lie, one bad mistake can ruin a friendship. You know that you’re sorry and that you’d never again say or do such a thing. But your friend probably won’t feel the same about you for a while. You’ll have to work hard to gain back his or her trust. Maybe you’ll succeed; maybe you won’t. If the friendship is important to you, keep trying.
