One in four British people is obese. The NHS term is "bariatric".

So-called bariatric surgery, such as the gastric band or bypass, is becoming common with more than six thousand of those operations happened in England in 2014, two hundred of those here in Staffordshire and Cheshire.

But one BBC Radio Stoke listener has told us that a gastric bypass operation nearly killed her and she's lived in pain ever since.
