On World Humanitarian Day, Saturday August 19, Radio Miraya pays tribute to aid workers who face significant dangers and difficulties as they provide relief to people caught up in crisis zones.

The day was designated by the General Assembly to coincide with the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq, which killed 22 UN staff

#NotATarget Protection of Civilians is the theme for this year's World Humanitarian Day. The UN and its partners are advocating for the protection of civilians (PoC), aid workers, and all those affected by conflict.

Philip Wani caught up with some of WFP aid workers to highlight their stories.
