Surrey CC loses judicial review on its Libraries - what does this mean?

Apr 10, 2012, 11:26 PM

This may become a really significant legal case and a useful precedent. Mr Justice Wilkie has made some very interesting observations that will be important for those who organise consultations as well as those whose job is to meet Equalities legislation. And like many of the recent cases, it will prove just as relevant to NHS Managers, Police & Crime Commissioners (when we elect them) and all other public bodies; this kind of case is not really about Libraries, but about the way that decisions are taken to change public services #consultation #council #Court #equalities #JudicialReview #LegalChallenges #library #PublicEngagement

Quick correction; my apologies, I inadvertently said this turned on the application of S.147 of the Equalities Act 2010. That is wrong; it is, in fact S.149. My wife says its too late to record such things after midnight!!
