Season 2, Episode 18,   Apr 17, 2020, 03:12 AM

Jeff Pearlman talks about spending two years researching Kobe then learning he died at the end of it, the demise of his former employer Sports Illustrated and the return of sports after coronavirus.

Jeff Pearlman spent the last two years documenting the 1996-2004 Los Angeles Lakers dynasty. Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal. Three championships. Phil Jackson's second prime. Eight years managed to thrust Kobe Bryant into the legendary status, while feuding forced him and Shaq apart, leaving many wondering what could've been even a decade few would consider underwhelming. Pearlman wrapped up his follow-up to his 1980s Showtime book to news in late January that one of its central characters, Kobe Bryant, died tragically at 41. Pearlman takes us through the adjustments and change in mindset toward the project the landmark event had on him, and he expects from his September 29 release.
